Century 21: The best shopping tip in New York

If you want to do some shopping while you are in New York, then Century 21 is a must.

 News

The store is now open!

A little history behind the department store Century 21

Century 21 was created in 1961 in New York City, initially with a location in Brooklyn at 472, 86 Street in Bay Ridge.
Its main goal was to sell brand clothing at unbeatable prices.
Century 21 then moved in a strategic location in Lower Manhattan and Financial District just across the Twin Towers.
Precisely, in September 2001, the store was damaged after the collapse of the twin towers, but it stood strong.
It’s usually a “must stop” after a visit at the 9/11 Memorial.

What kind of clothing you’ll find at Century 21?

At Century 21, you’ll find all kind of clothing, including pants, dresses, skirts, outerwear, sweaters, underwear, pajamas, shoes, hats, sunglasses, scarves, and much more, basically everything for women, men, kids, and home items.
Now, the best tip for Century 21 is that most clothes are designer brands like Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, Guess, Levi’s, and more at unbeatable prices.

How to navigate inside Downtown’s Century 21?

Once you enter Century 21, located across from the Oculus, you’ll surely think: “what a big mess!!!”
I would say “yes” and “no.”
In fact, each department has an area. You’ll have a section for hats, underwear, shoes, outerwear, and of course, a department for men, women, kids, and home.
Thus, make sure to check the signs in the store to avoid getting lost inside.
I personally already got lost in the shoe department located in a different aisle of the building and a lower floor. To get there, you have to walk through a small door, walk down 2 flights of stairs and go through another small door: a real maze. 🙂

How to find really great deals?

To find great deals, you have to look and snoop around. In other words: be patient and be ready to spend time looking around for great bargains.
I, personally, don’t have that patience and get tired of the crowd very quickly.
I remember buying pajamas, a suitcase, jeans, underwear, and a pair of converse sneakers for kids (excellent deal btw).
My friend who was visiting bought a beautiful designer cocktail dress for $49, jeans for $19 and underwear for less than $15 so there are some serious deals to be made 🙂

How is the staff?

The staff is really helpful with the customers.
Even if it’s crowded, you’ll always find someone to assist and guide you.
They hire a significant number of sales assistants to help and guide customers as it should.
You’ll notice that even if the store is very crowded, you won’t be spending more than 30 minutes waiting in line at the cashier.
Everything goes fast and very smoothly. This type of organized customer service is something you can also find at the Apple Store and at B&H.

Where can you find a Century 21 in New York?

At a certain time, there were six stores, but only one has open again during this spring 2023 in Downtown:
22 Cortlandt Street , New York, NY 10007

Is it a great shopping tip in New York or not?

Yes, the Century 21 department stores are a great shopping tip to find discounted designer clothing during your trip to New York.
Now just like Macy’s, it’s up to you to take the time and spend at least an hour to discover the store.
Great finds! But watch out to not get carried away and blow up your credit card!! 🙂

Ps i have been with Century 21 since 4 / 30 1980 which was my first day on Wall st until the end. , and Century 21 benefits from the compliment I got from the people in Europe for the suits I always wearing are Century’s collections by traveling to deferent places imagine. Hi just wondering is there a Century21 store close to Crowne Plaz Times Square. Is it walking distance?
    • TeamMemo says:
      Hi Teresa,

You can go to the store located by the Lincoln Center, it’s about 25-30 minutes by walk from the hotel. You can also take the subway, line 1 for two stops. It will be faster.

The biggest store is near the One World Observatory, to get to this store, you may take the subway, line E and stop at Chambers St Station.

What is the best century 21 store to shop at in nyc if I just had to choose one
        • TeamMemo says:
The store at Financial District is the biggest, but also very crowded. The one at Lincoln Center is smaller, but you can still find good deals, and there’s less people.
If you have enough time, you may go to the one in Brooklyn. There are less people there 😉
