If you want to travel to New York City, do not worry about your wheelchair. There are many apartments and hotels with access tailored to your needs.
I will show you a list of rental apartments where you can choose the “Disability Access” option, and a list of hotels in NY “supposedly” accessible. I say “supposedly” because I could not see for myself the width of the doors, showers…
So, this list has been prepared with official information they give to the city of New York. As for the apartments the information is provided by the owners when they register their apartment sites.

Accessible apartments for people with disabilities.
If you prefer to stay in an apartment during your trip to New York, you may find various options.
Now before confirming a reservation, I recommend that you send multiple e-mails to the owner to make sure the apartment is tailored to your needs. There are some criteria that are not negotiable (width of doors, adapted bathroom …).

Accessible hotels for people with disabilities
Here’s a list of 8 hotels that have been verified by ADA.
I’m not saying that only these hotels offer a customized service, but at least ensures you that they have everything you need.
When booking, ask for a accessible to wheelchairs bedroom. If you want to see more hotels, review Booking.com by clicking on “Facilities for Disabled Guests”.
The Hilton Times Square has 26 accessible rooms. The reception desk has a lower counter for people who arrive with a wheelchair, the bathrooms are also accessible in the bar and restaurant.

The Courtyard by Marriot Manhattan / Times Square has 244 rooms of which 11 are adapted for people with wheelchairs. The beds are 53 cm high. The Courtyard has public spaces and meeting rooms, service, breakfast and an accessible hall.

The Residence Inn by Marriott Manhattan / Times Square features 25 rooms adapted for people with disabilities. There is one on almost every floor of the hotel. The two entrances are accessible as well as the conference room, the hall.

The New Yorker Hotel is a legendary New York hotel, located right next to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. It offers accessible rooms. You can choose between a Queen bed or 2 double beds.

The Hampton Inn hotel opened in 2008. Of the 146 rooms, 7 are accessible. 6 of these rooms have a king size bed, 4 non-smoking. All showers have been adapted. The breakfast room, fitness center and meeting rooms are accessible. They have a system to locate people with disabilities to provide assistance in all the rooms of the hotel. It is a good place for your comfort and safety.

The Hotel Henri has 8 rooms accessible with a wheelchair. The bathrooms and showers are accessible, they have King size beds. The hotel entrance has a ramp and doors are automatic. The hotel is fairly recent, it was inaugurated in November 2008.

The Gallivant Times Square is a recent hotel with accessible rooms, including 3 with shower and one with a bathtub. All have king size beds. The breakfast room (included in the room price) is also accessible. It’s a pet friendly hotel!
