To visit New York City, there are several passes offering a fixed and low rate for various activities and tourist attractions.
Choosing the right pass will allow you to save money for your trip to New York City. It’s the ideal solution to pay as less as possible.
There are three categories of passes
You can read the article corresponding to each pass category by clicking below.
Get a New York CityPASS if:
- It’s your first trip to NYC
- To see the most representative landmarks
- You stay 2 to 9 days in NYC
- You have an average budget
Choose an unlimited pass if :
- It’s not your first trip to NYC
- You want to visit a lot of places
- If you have a confortable budget
An “A la carte” pass is your best option if:
- You already know what to do in NYC
- If you have a limited budget (few activities) or if you have a confortable budget (to select more than 10 activities)
Why did I write this page?
On this page, I provide you with a lot of information about the different visitor passes, and help you choose the one that best fits your profile, your budget, and the duration of your trip.
I let you read the benefits and drawbacks of each pass, what they include, and compare them depending on the rates, activities, flexibility…
What you need to know after Covid
In this period following the pandemic, most of the attractions (or rather the must-see attractions such as the Top of the Rock, Summit One Vanderbilt, Empire State Building, One World Observatory, Edge, Circle Line, Statue of Liberty, 11/09 Museum…) limit the number of people admitted each day and at each hour. So, you need to have booked your visit before going!
It doesn’t matter if you have a pass or not, without this reservation, it will be difficult for you to do the activity.
The agents at the entrance may tell you to come back in an hour or two, or you will have to book for the following days.
The difficulty is that except for the New York CityPASS and C3, most of the other passes do not offer reservations.
It will not prevent you from enjoying your stay, however, it will ask for a little more organization once in New York.
Before scrolling down
Please note the following:
– The Summit One Vanderbilt is not included in any pass!
– Only the New York CityPASS offers two visits of the Empire State Building on the same day.

DRAWBACKS | Not all activities and attractions are offered. | Not all activities and attractions are offered. | It is necessary to calculate exactly all the attractions you want to do, and you can’t book the most popular activities in advance to avoid wasting your time once in New York. | One is somewhat obliged to do a lot of visits and activities in a short period of time to make it worthwhile, and one cannot book the most popular activities in advance to avoid wasting time in NYC. | ||
