The best tips to visit Niagara Falls from New York

If you’re visiting New York for more than a week then you might want to take a trip to the famous Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls are located right at the border of United States and Canada, approximately 650 km (400 miles) away from New York City.

For the most adventurous ones who wish to discover these amazing waterfalls, you have many ways to get there.

Your options includes renting a car or go with a bus tour.

Let me explain to you how to organize your trip to Niagara Falls.

By your own means:

If you’re adventurous and don’t like to follow the tourist trail then rent a car. index

After searching endlessly on car rentals websites, I finally found the best deal in the United States: Rental cars.

They are the leaders on the car rental market and there is a reason for that.

As a matter of fact, last February, my friend and I traveled to Florida and rented a Chrysler convertible for an unbeatable price comparing to other car rentals agencies (Budget, Alamo, Avis)!!! 🙂 🙂

Great tips to rent a car: Before you reserve your car, know that you don’t have to get additional insurances. If you pay with your Visa Premier or Gold credit card, insurance is included with your car rental (even outside the US).

2nd great tip: Make sure to install a GPS on your smartphone instead of paying extra on top of your car rental expenses. I strongly recommend it since traffic signals often change.

What to do in Niagara Falls?

I’m not ending this article without telling you what you can do.

Just as I mentioned earlier, I highly recommend the boat ride on the Maid of the Mist, it’s really worth it and absolutely gorgeous!!!

Then, you can come very close to the Waterfalls just like my friend did and got soaked. 🙂

In addition, the Niagara Falls are light up every night as you can plainly see on the picture below. Here’s a display of pink, yellow, blue and green, it’s rather unusual. To be honest, I’m not a big fan because I think that the beauty of the waterfalls lies within its natural state. But in this case, it looks more like an amusement park.

Each side of the Niagara Falls in United States and Canada (since the waterfalls separate both countries) are home to hotels and casinos, and this really affects the landscape.

I was a little naïve to think that the Niagara Falls were in the middle of untouched nature but consumer society took over. What a shame.

After a negative point, the goal is to discover, listen, see and feel these incredible Niagara Falls!!!

Besides the artificial side of Niagara Falls, I strongly advise you to visit this place once in your lifetime. The most impressive moment is when you’re on top (see the picture above). You better not fall!!!! 🙂 🙂

This is a must if you’re staying more than one week in New York!!!!!
