Take a break at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory

If you’re looking for places to eat, be it sweet or salty flavors; New York is all about delicious options. For a small craving, stop at the Ice Cream Factory, before or after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge.

This post is about the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory located in DUMBO. Sadly, it closed in December 2018. However, they opened a new shop nearby, you just have to cross the main street.
Even if the place is different, the ice creams are delicious, and you can’t miss them!

History of Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory

The ice cream parlor can easily go unnoticed if you don’t see the signs. It is difficult to realize that this small place is dedicated to selling ice cream. Indeed, it was a fireboat house of the Marine Fire Co. No. 7 in the 30’s. Later, it became a museum before closing its doors because of its deterioration…

The owner of the place, Mark Thompson, had the idea to open Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory shortly after September 11 attacks. The place has become famous, thanks to the good reviews of local people who have considered it as: “the best ice cream in New York”.

And how is the ice cream shop?

As I mentioned at the beginning, it’s hard to believe that there, an old fireboat house with a look from the last century, is where the best NY ice cream is sold.

The interior is simple and may even seem messy. There are some tables on the left and a large bar on the right, where ice cream fans line up to try this delight.

Attention! Payment is cash only.

What can I try at Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory?

Ice cream, ice cream and ice cream… There is a wide variety, including the classics:
-Vanilla
-Chocolate
-Strawberry
-Vanilla with pieces of chocolate
-Peach and cream
-Peanut butter
-Coffee
-Chocolate with pieces of chocolate

The ice creams are made in the old way, with quality products, and without conservatives. They are creamy and light. You can also add a topping! You have the option to choose between a cone or plastic cup. You can have specialties such as mint ice cream covered with chocolate, among other delicacies such as sundae, smoothies, and Banana Split.

And the price?

I guess the prices have not changed since my last visit:
-1 scoop: $ 4.75
-2 scoops: $ 6.75
-3 scoops: $ 7.75
The sundaes and shakes are starting at $ 8.00.
And I remind you that the payment is only in cash.

What is the best plan for the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory?

Of course the ice cream, it’s delicious! I think that this girl’s face says it all 😀

But above all, take your ice cream and enjoy the Brooklyn Bridge Park and its view over the city of New York. What more could you want?

Any update re The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory? It seems that the Greenpoint location may have closed, as the phone there has been disconnected. Is the new stand in DUMBO open? Does it have a phone number?
