Where can you see celebrities in New York City?

When watching television, one realizes that New York is in almost every movie and series. If most of them are recorded in studios in Los Angeles, there are often filming in the streets of New York. You can see celebrities working or in their daily lives because many of them live in NY.
I will try to indicate the places where you may see celebrities in New York: actors, singers, athletes…

Where do celebrities live in New York?

In 2014, a real estate agency published a map indicating where celebrities owned a property. I did not find a more recent map, but I am sure that many of them still live in the same place. Sadly some celebrities have already moved to other worlds like David Bowie, but you can see where he lived.

Chelsea Hotel
This place was the “home” of several celebrities such as Mark Twain, Leonard Cohen, Iggy Pop, it’s also where they stabbed the girlfriend of Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols.

It is the home of the famous trumpeter and singer Louis Armstrong. You can visit this place, it’s what I did a few years ago and I loved it.

The home of Theodore Roosevelt
More than a celebrity, the 26th President of the United States was born in this house that was renovated after being demolished in 1916. It is a historic site that you can visit for free.

The house of Bob Dylan
He has not lived there for a while, his fans knew the address and they spent hours spying on him… Now you can pass in front of the house without bothering Bob, be discreet with the new owner 😉

Those of you who like fashion, will know that it was in this place that they recorded a documentary in 2009 about the editor of the Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour, during the preparation of the September 2007 edition.

The Dakota building was one of the residences of many celebrities such as Lauren Bacall. That’s where John Lennon was murdered in 1980. Yoko is still living there.

It’s one of the properties of the former mayor of New York. It is where he lived during his mandate instead of staying in the official home of the mayors of NY (Gracie Mansion, East 88 St).

The famous and young graphic designer was found lifeless in his art studio in 1988. His current residence is the Green-Wood cemetery in Brooklyn
