Where can you see celebrities in New York City?

When watching television, one realizes that New York is in almost every movie and series. If most of them are recorded in studios in Los Angeles, there are often filming in the streets of New York. You can see celebrities working or in their daily lives because many of them live in NY.
I will try to indicate the places where you may see celebrities in New York: actors, singers, athletes...

Where do celebrities live in New York?

In 2014, a real estate agency published a map indicating where celebrities owned a property. I did not find a more recent map, but I am sure that many of them still live in the same place. Sadly some celebrities have already moved to other worlds like David Bowie, but you can see where he lived.

Chelsea Hotel
This place was the "home" of several celebrities such as Mark Twain, Leonard Cohen, Iggy Pop, it’s also where they stabbed the girlfriend of Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols.

It is the home of the famous trumpeter and singer Louis Armstrong. You can visit this place, it's what I did a few years ago and I loved it.

The home of Theodore Roosevelt
More than a celebrity, the 26th President of the United States was born in this house that was renovated after being demolished in 1916. It is a historic site that you can visit for free.

The house of Bob Dylan
He has not lived there for a while, his fans knew the address and they spent hours spying on him... Now you can pass in front of the house without bothering Bob, be discreet with the new owner 😉

The Dakota building was one of the residences of many celebrities such as Lauren Bacall. That's where John Lennon was murdered in 1980. Yoko is still living there.

It’s one of the properties of the former mayor of New York. It is where he lived during his mandate instead of staying in the official home of the mayors of NY (Gracie Mansion, East 88 St).

This beautiful Upper East Side building was the residence of several personalities such as the journalist Nora Ephron who had written an article about it in an edition of the 2006 New Yorker magazine. Conan O'Brien, Al Pacino and Cyndi Lauper also lived there.

It's where I used to go for one of my favorite restaurants in New York, Kittichai, but it’s sadly closed. The bohemian atmosphere of the hotel suits the taste of Jessica Simpson and Christina Aguilera.

Waldorf-Astoria
It is one of the main Art Deco icons of New York City since 1893. The hotel had its own metro stop reserved for customers! President Obama usually stayed there. Paris and Nicky Hilton grew up in this very sophisticated place, who could believe it?

The Plaza
It is the hotel of "Home Alone", of "Crocodile Dundee" and of "Breakfast at Tiffany's". It is the first hotel to have been classified monument of the city of NY. You could have encountered the members of the Beatles, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mark Twain and Groucho Marx in its corridors.

It is one of the favorite hotels of celebrities, such as the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood or the Raleigh in Miami. Despite all the luxury it offers, it seems impossible to call Australia ... This drove Russel Crowe crazy who attacked a concierge with a phone!

In the end it's not that complicated to see celebrities in New York, you just need to be in the same place at the same time! 😀
