Fat-Cat-Greenwich-Village-NY

Fat Cat Bar is a friendly underground bar to listen to jazz, play ping pong, and pool.
A place you can’t miss if you are traveling to NY.

Cellar Dog is the new name for FAT CAT! You will still be able to play games listening to quality jazz!
I didn’t get the opportunity to go to Cellar Dog! But they have a similar atmosphere, I can’t wait to go!

How is the Fat Cat?

Fat Cat bar is an underground venue. To get in, you’ll have to go downstairs to the basement of a building thru a little hallway.

At the end the deco is not important, the best thing is having a good time with your friends and playing games while you are listening to good music 😉

Who are the Fat Cat’s clients

The average age is around 30 years old, but you can also see people between 40 and 50, but you’ll find younger ones too. However from 6-7pm and ‘til close time you need to be older than 21 to get in.

You know what is the most interesting thing about this place? There are almost no tourists.
I like the mood and the spirit when going in. When you visit NYC, you are always going to the tourist places (I mean, it is normal) but if you want to live the whole New York experience and live like New Yorkers… Well, this bar is the perfect spot!

My best tip:

My friend and I found this plan for that night:
We went to another place to have a sandwich, close to Fat Cat and then we went back to the bar. We ask for a beer and backgammon. We had a good time: A snack a beer, games a good friend and an excellent vibe, and of course live music.
What else can you ask for?

Fat Cat’s Location:

It is located in Greenwich Village’s downtown, less than a mile from Washington Square Park and close by Metro lines 1 and 2 on Christopher Street.

Conclusion:

Is it a good plan to visit Fat Cat?
It is understandable that I just loved this place, the vibe, mood, and feeling when going in, its whole concept, and the fact that you will feel like a New Yorker.
I can’t wait to go back!
