Why stay at a hostel?
The hostels in New York are a legit option if you are looking for affordable rates. In addition to their location, you will find facilities such as a kitchen, laundry and common areas conducive to meetings with other travelers. If the majority of the hostel’s clientele use to be young, they attract now “older” travelers, because their offer is very interesting.
They are no longer the typical large dormitories with parties all night 🙂

Hostelling International – New York
On the Upper West Side, near Central park, Hostelling International New York has a patio and a garden, a terrace on the second floor. The rooms and bedroom have air conditioning. In addition to the immense kitchen, there is a game room with pool tables, and a laundry room.
You can use the computers and the Wi-Fi, plus advantage of the many free activities as BBQ nights, clubbing nights… They also give free guided tours of the city.
 
 
 
Jazz on The Park Hostel
This hostel is minutes away from Times Square. If you decide to stay there, you will be right next to the fashionable places to go out, near the most touristic attractions.
The bedrooms are large clean and comfortable. There is a kitchen and a games room with flat TV. It also features a cafeteria, a patio and two terraces on the roof, offering an incredible view over Manhattan.
Breakfast and WiFi access are free and they also have computers.
 
 
 
The Jane Hotel
The Jane Hotel is not really a hostel, but it can be cheaper than a hotel in New York. It has private rooms, with or without private bathroom.
The interesting thing about this hotel is that it has a lot of history and is different from the others. Indeed, it served to host the sailors coming to town.

Local Hostel
Local Hostel looks like a large loft. The decoration is very modern.
The rooms can be shared, or you can request a private room for one or two people.
The kitchen is equipped, and you also have access to a laundry room.
The best about this hostel is that it is 5 minutes away from many metro lines, and in 10-15 minutes, you will be in Times Square. It is also at a walking distace from Vernon Boulevard, a street with many businesses and restaurants.
