Jimmy at the James, a trendy rooftop bar in SoHo

Years go by and the number of rooftops increases in New York City, now I will talk about Jimmy at the James in SoHo.
Located on the top floor of the The James Hotel, the bar offers one of the best views with an incredible terrace over Manhattan and a pool to top it off.

What is the atmosphere of Jimmy at the James?

The clientele of this bar in SoHo is mostly local.
We found a bar full of people who come after work during the week (between 6pm and 8pm) although its peak hours are from 10 o’clock at night.
You must consider that our visit was in winter, and everyone was inside. The bar is quite cozy, warm and I felt at ease.
Besides, a DJ is in charge of the music!

Well, maybe winter was not the best time to visit it, but it is more than obvious that from May to September, it must be really nice with the pool and its breathtaking view.

It is worth mentioning that the pool was built with the style of the 70s. On one side of it, there is a shower … Well, it is more than obvious that I will have to come back in Summer. ☺

The view from here will take your breath away, with all South Manhattan at your feet and notably the One WTC, also on the right side you will appreciate the Hudson River and New Jersey, and on your left the Brooklyn Bridge.
Even if it is not as high as other rooftops, it clearly dominates the neighborhood of SoHo!

What can you eat and drink?

Like most bars in New York, and notably rooftops, Jimmy proposes its own cocktails (see the menu here) one of them is the “French kissing in the USA” that contains Gin, Cassis and Champagne!
They also have classic drinks: beer, wine, cider, etc.
They prepare small dishes (tapas style), empanadas, falafel, a plate with cheese and charcuterie, bruschetta, popcorn …
I just had a cocktail, so I cannot tell you if the food is good or not.

And the prices?

They are like the average in New York, cocktails have a base price of $ 18, a glass of wine between $ 14 and $ 20, $ 10 for a beer…

What is the “Best Plan” of Jimmy at the James?

Your best bet is to visit this place in Summer and enjoy the pool. And notably on Saturdays and Sundays from 4pm as a DJ entertains the afternoons.
What more could you want? The combo “Cocktail-music-pool-rooftop” and a breathtaking view is truly something you have to live during your next visit to New York.

When is the bar open?

From Sunday to Wednesday from 5pm to 1am; Thursday to Saturday from 5pm to 2am.

Conclusion

This rooftop is one of the last places that made me fall in love (again) with the city. Totally recommended, don’t forget your swimsuit!
