There are so many things to do in New York City! Then after a long sightseeing day, you could go to the bowling alley. There are few of them in the city, but we choose Lucky Strike to spend some time because it’s very close to Times Square.
The Lucky Strike bowling
It all started with Hollywood Star Lanes about 50 years ago. It was a true institution in Los Angeles, and even appeared in the movie The Big Lebowski. However, it closed in 2003. It was when Lucky Strike was created in Hollywood.
They used the wood from lane 7 of the Hollywood Star Lanes to build the bar. I guess it has given them good luck because there are now several Lucky Strikes all over the country, and one in New York.
How is Lucky Strike Manhattan?
It is gigantic. It has 26 lanes in total, 4 in a Luxe Room.
Upon entering this place, there is a bar on the right, some tables and sofas, 11 pool tables and ping pong, and then the bowling lanes on the left.
The atmosphere is pleasant, with dim light. The leather sofas are very comfortable. Each group of players has enough space to have fun and rest. Now if you want more privacy, you can book a Luxe Room with its own tracks, a bar, DJ …
They placed some TV screens on the walls, in which they broadcast sporting events.
Can you eat there?
Yes. They prepare some snaks to share, hamburgers, salads, pizzas … A little bit of everything! It combines perfectly with their delicious cocktails.
You can organize an event, like a birthday party for example. They offer packages with food and drinks, plus 2 hours of bowling.
Can you go with children?
During the day, yes. But after 7pm, you must be aged 21 or over.
Do you have to book?
Yes indeed. From 8 people, Lucky Strike can organize your event, or book two lanes. It usually happens when you plan to go out with family and friends.
Alex of BPVNY had booked for us and we had an excellent time.
