Sleep in a room with an exceptional view at the Millennium Hilton Downtown

The full name of this hotel that I invite you to discover is the Millennium Hilton New York Downtown! It’s not easy to remember, but one thing is for sure, if you stay there, you will remember its view forever!

What is the Millennium Hilton like?

The hotel is a large building of about 50 stories, covered with dark glass windows, relatively neutral after all.

The entrance is monumental. The concierge is at the right, the reception is in the center, and there is a bar on the left. It gives the impression to enter a hotel of a certain standing, with a minimalist but warm decoration at the same time thanks to the golden tones.

It has a fitness center reserved for the customers of the hotel. I don’t have a picture because it was closed because of Covid-19.

How are the rooms?

They have a similar decoration with the possibility of having two queen-sized beds or one king-size bed. There are also junior suites, with an extra room and a sofa bed. It can be a great option when traveling with children.
This was also the room I took during my stay last October 2020. There were only two of us, but we wanted to have some space. Plus, we got a great rate! So I will describe this room to you.

You have a small living room with a sofa bed, an armchair, and a small TV at the entrance. There you will find a decent size desk, a small fridge, and a coffee maker. There was no microwave.

You continue to the corridor, where there is a large bathroom.

There is also a large closet with blankets and pillows if needed.

Finally, you come to the bedroom with a king-size bed, a little larger than a double bed. There is also another television, bigger than the one in the living room.

The view from the Millennium Hilton Hotel is incredible

You’ll know from the title of this article, what I loved was the view! We had a corner room, which allowed us to see north of Manhattan and especially to be in front of the World Trade Center. So towards the north, our view was a bit obstructed by a beautiful building. We were on the 38th floor. I’m not sure that the hotel is taller than the building across the street.

We still had nothing to complain about because you can see the Edge and Times Square if you look closely. You have a view of St. Paul’s Chapel and the city hall area, and its park.

The room has a view in angle. Then from the bed, you can see the One World Trade Center and the north of Manhattan.

By approaching the window, the view is unbelievable on the Oculus, the basins of the Memorial 9/11, and the shopping center Brookfield Place. You can also see Newark!

What other great things about the Millennium Hilton Hotel?

In my opinion, it’s its location. I indeed like to stay in the Financial District. I had already had the experience with the Aloft hotel not far from there.
The Millennium Hotel is ideally located in the World Trade Center, with the Oculus station across the street, the R and W subway lines practically in front of the main entrance of the hotel, and the Fulton station is a block away (lines A, C, J, Z, 2, 3, 4, 5). So from there, you can go anywhere!
The advantage is also that it’s a 10/15 minute walk from the pier to the Statue of Liberty. And as I always recommend going first thing in the morning, no need to get up at dawn.

What I didn’t like about this hotel

I found the rooms excellent, with an incredible view, and the bedding is top-notch. On the other hand, my room seemed old-fashioned, with a damaged carpet.
And something to consider, in the corner rooms, the bay windows are all around the room. So it’s nice, but the last night was very windy. We feel that “it vibrates”; even if nothing is going to happen, it is not pleasant.

How much do the rooms cost?

In high season and except Covid, you may pay about 300€ and more per night for the room that I had. There are cheaper rooms with a nice view too. Here I had the four nights for about $500, which was an exceptional deal.

Conclusion

I liked this hotel because of its view. So yes, it is a bit pricey. But hey, if you feel like treating yourself for your next trip to New York City or if you come across an interesting offer, I think you will love your stay there!
