History of Murray’s Bagel Restaurant

Before I tell you the history of the restaurant, it should be noted that the bagels were created in Central and Eastern Europe. The Jewish immigrants from Europe brought this speciality to the Eastern United States and Canada.

Adam Pomerantz is the founder of the restaurant, born into a Jewish family in New York. His father was named Murray and prepared some bagels when he was a child. With the idea of creating his own business, Adam learned to make them in a bakery. It was back in November 1996 when he opened his restaurant in Greenwich Village.

As a tribute to his father, he named his restaurant after his dad name, Murray. This place has become a must-do in the city of New York. Its success also comes from the quality of the bread.

What’s in Murray’s Bagels?

Bagels of course! But they also have other specialties.
They can make a bagel depending on your taste.
First you have to choose from a variety of breads: 17 in total, from classic to cinnamon, raisins, onions…

Then the ingredients: meat, fish, sauces, lettuce, vegetables … well, I think there is too much to choose 😀

Now you can also order one of the many recipes suggested on the board. In fact that’s what I recommend, it’s easier.

If you ask for a recipe like Rivington Street, they will ask you if you want to add a sauce.

The bread and sauces are homemade. You’ll see, everything is really delicious and well served as you can see in the picture below;)
