The “NYCTT Portfolio” is a new category of the blog, in which I invite you to participate by sending pictures of different places of New York.

What is the portfolio category in NYCTT?

It is a category created by Alex BPVNY (the NYCTT blog in French) and an active member of BPVNY, Pascal Huet. The category BPVNY Portfolio consists in gathering the photos you take during your trip to New York.

The goal is to have a collection of photos on various NYC venues, with photos taken by the followers of the NYCTT blog. Who does not like to show photos of their trip to NY?

It is a participatory portfolio of the “NYCTT Community” 😀

For this first time, I’ll post photos of the French blog, now I’ll be waiting for yours 😉

How do you know which picture to send?

With some regularity, I will post an article indicating a precise place in New York City.

After reviewing your own photos of NY, if you have any that corresponds to the topic, you can send it to me and I’ll publish your pictures.

Where to send the photos?

They can be sent to this email: nyctraveltips@gmail.com

Where was the site chosen to launch the portfolio category?

The mural “VJ Day in Times Square” by the Brazilian artist Kobra.

Kobra’s work is right next to the High Line walk (more in NYCTT), on West 25th.

“VJ” means: Victory over Japan.

The mural is an interpretation of a famous photograph taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt in Times Square on the day of the surrender of Japan, on August 14th, 1945. It is a photo of a US Navy Marine giving a kiss to a young nurse. It marks the end of the Pacific War and the victory of the United States against their ultimate enemy of the 2nd World War.

Eduardo Kobratries, aka Kobra, painted the mural in 2012. His work creates an impression of ecstasy and passion from the hugging couple.

By walking on the High Line, you can see this great mural.

If you want to see other works of Kobra, review his website and his Flickr account. You can see another mural recently done in Sao Paulo (see here).
