Restaurants located in Times Square for New Year’s Eve

A number of you are looking for a restaurant in Times Square to eat and watch the famous Ball Drop at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

It’s a great idea but theoretically it’s more complex in reality since Times Square is mostly surrounded by shops and only a handful of restaurants which are not the best in town!! 🙁

Restaurant type: The restaurant is located at the top of the Marriott Hotel. The particularity of this place remains in the fact that it rotates and offers an eclectic menu. One side of the restaurant is a bar. (see article on The View Lounge)

Restaurant type: It’s a seafood restaurant with specialties like shrimps and lobsters. It’s a bit pricey.

Restaurant type: It’s an Asian restaurant with a beautiful décor. To be honest, I never tried it, so I’m unable to tell you if the quality of the food offered is great or not.

Restaurant Type: You can eat there anytime, morning, lunch time and evenings. The menu offers bagels, burgers, sandwiches and more.

Restaurant type:  Just like the Planet Hollywood, this is another version of restaurant 100% American! 🙂

Restaurant type: Here’s a restaurant where you can eat oysters, lobsters, calamari, but also sushi and filet mignon.

Restaurant type: They often offer an “all you can eat” buffet with: salmon, chicken, burgers, rice, pizza, pasta and more. They might offer a special New Year’s Eve menu. The rate is ok comparing to other nearby establishments. Since it’s a buffet, don’t expect quality when you have great quantity for low prices. It’s merely impossible 🙂

Restaurant type: The restaurant offers grilled type of food. It’s not the best place in NYC, but it’s still ok.

Restaurant type: located in the heart of the Crown Plaza Hotel, the restaurant offers classic dishes. Nothing really original, but since its location is in Times Square, you can enjoy it for New Year’s Eve.

Is it possible to get out the restaurant to see the Drop Ball and then return inside?

Yes of course, each restaurant knows that your goal is to watch the Ball Drop in Times Square.

You can enjoy the show from the windows or walk down the street.

How’s New Year’s Eve in Times Square?

The Drop Ball can only be seen from 43rd street and 50th street on Broadway and on 43rd Street and 59th street on 7th avenue.

As the crowd builds up, the NYPD will close streets after streets when they see it’s packed. Beware, don’t come late to Times Square or you won’t be able to enter the area even if you have a restaurant reservation!!!

Are there any other tips to watch the Ball Drop?

Yes, 2 hotels are available in the area (along with the Marriott which I spoke about earlier with The View) who offer an amazing view on Times Square.
