Where can you find sales in New York?

There are 3 main locations to shop in New York and find good sales:
On 34th Street close to Macy’s between Madison Square Garden and the Empire State Building, of course this includes Macy’s.
On Broadway between Union Square and Canal Street.
In Times Square between 43rd Street and 50th Street.
Also try 5th Avenue, Wall Street, Lexington Avenue and Brooklyn. Overall, these 3 main locations gather the coolest and cheapest stores in New York.
Here’s a map below to locate these 3 main locations:

Which stores in New York are offering sales?

Most stores offer sales however, most bargains are found in clothing and shoe shops.
You’ll find deals in the most famous department stores including: Century 21 (no official reopening date yet), Burlington, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, and more.

To find additional stores, don’t hesitate to check my section on New York Shopping Tips.

In addition, you can visit well-known outlet stores. The latest are a great way to find designer clothing at unbeatable prices all year long.

Choice of outlets

The closest one is Empire Outlets; however, it just opened in 2019 and there are not as many stores as the other two outlets.
You may prefer to take a trip to Woodbury Premium as an opportunity to get out of NYC on a bus and see unique landscapes beyond the city.
Finally, Jersey Garden is an indoor outlet mall, the ideal place to shop when it’s very cold (below zero) in winter or extremely hot in summer (90 or more). Unlike Woodbury, an outdoor mall might be a good option if the weather is pleasant.
Both are good and have similar stores, so it’s really up to you! 🙂

There is no doubt that you’ll find some great sales in these outlets. However, it’s worth the trip in terms of prices.
Of course, that is if you find items that you like and fits you 🙂
It’s worth a try!!!

One last New York shopping tip during sales

Even if it’s not a great shopping tip, it might help you while you shop. If you’re planning to go on a shopping spree in New York, then do pack basic necessary items in your suitcase, or you won’t be able to bring everything back home! 🙂
I hope you can travel during these dates and if you can’t, don’t worry there are always some good deals available in most stores all year long.
Again, even if it’s not sale season, shopping in New York always has advantages and it’s always fun 🙂
And don’t forget to check my post in which I give you coupon codes to buy a pass, visits, get concert and game tickets at a lower price!

Your best bet is to go to an outlet store. Empire Outlets is the newest one, however it’s not as big as Jersey Gardens Outlet where you may find a lots of shops 🙂

    Hi,
    Great tips. Thanks!
We (2 adults) are vacationing in NYC in November. We’ll be there from the 20 to 30th Nov in time for Thanksgiving. We wish to do one or two days of shopping although our intent is signt-seeing. Would the Thanksgiving sales be better at the outlet malls vs. the High Street deals? After reading your post there is some time to factor in to get to and back from the outlet malls. Do you suggest we stay in the heart of the city to do our shopping for clothes, cosmetics and small gift items?

I notice there is pre-, black Friday and post- Thanksgiving sale days. Any tips on which days to dedicate to shopping for better deals? And what is the etiquette for each day e.g. waiting in long queues at early hours for department store deals?

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    RRM

Hi Memo, thanks for the article and tips. I was wondering if you would know if the Labor Day sales at Woodbury Common will start earlier than 30th August? Or does it start on 30th August and no earlier?

    Thanks!
