I love both walking the streets of Greenwich Village and eating in this area. There are a lot of restaurants in this neighborhood and during one of my walks through Greenwich I happened to run into this one called The Grey Dog.

How is The Grey Dog?

This restaurant is modern with lots of wood and simple decorations. In New York they call it a coffee shop but it is a mix of a restaurant and bar.

What can you eat in the Grey Dog?

You can go to eat any time of day, it is good for breakfast, lunch and or dinner. As I made an evening stop in this place, I ordered a burger and a beer.

You also have the option of ordering: nachos, quesadillas, several different salad recipes, sandwiches, soups or you can combine them.

Their ingredients are local and organic.

What is a good tip for the Grey Dog?

What I liked most about this place is that most customers are locals. So you won’t have the impression of you being among other tourists in New York. On the contrary you will feel like a real New Yorker, at least for one night.

It seems a good idea to stop at this place for breakfast or snacks, some of the pastries they prepare looked very delicious. For example they make some great pancakes called the “village”.

How much does it cost?

Prices are normal compared to other places in New York. A hamburger costs $ 10, salads are between $ 9 and $ 14, a beer costs $ 3. They also serve Sangria during the summer.

Conclusion

This coffee shop style restaurant is a typical New York location, in other words a local place where you can eat organic “slow food”.
It is a perfect place to feel like a real New Yorker because it’s where locals go, especially in the Greenwich Village location.
Do not hesitate to stop by at any time of day.
