What type of cuisine Viand Coffee Shop is offering?
This is a typical New York diner offering classic American cuisine.
They offer a special for brunch with scrambled eggs, toasts, bacon, pancakes and bagels.
Burgers, sandwiches and salads are available all day to stay or to go.
Dishes that I tried and recommend
We went to Viand Coffee Shop for breakfast and ordered pancakes. OMG! This was the real taste of America for me :). There were thick, moist, served with crunchy strips of bacon and a delicious small bottle of maple syrup.The restaurant offers free refills as traditional in a real diner.
What are the decor and the size of Viand Coffee Shop?
The decoration is typical of American diners with a large counter where you can sit and a small room with very few tables.
How’s the vibe?
The atmosphere was really great. We were seating at the counter looking at the kitchen and the staff. I really enjoyed watching them cook, and see the pancakes cooking up slowly and trust me it smelled heavenly.
Who comes to Viand Coffee Shop?
It’s mostly locals who visit the restaurant. People from the neighborhood come for breakfast. There are some tourists since the place is referenced by many travel guide books.
How’s the service?
The service was efficient although not as friendly as other places we’ve visited.
What’s the best tip at this restaurant?
I strongly advise you to come for breakfast since it’s very particular. As you wake up slowly with the delicious smell of food, we meet New Yorkers in their daily lives, it’s very American.
The prices are reasonable for New York City, in between $10-$15. Here’s the menu.

There is one Viand Coffee Shop on the Upper East Side, near Central Park, and the other one a few blocks away from the American Museum of Natural History.
