Warwick Hotel history

The American businessman William Randolph Hearts built the hotel in 1926, to show his love to Marion Davies. She was a great American actress in the 20’s and 30’s (shown on the left picture). A lot of celebrities stayed in this Hotel, like the Beatles, “The King” Elvis Presley, and the mythical American actor Cary Grant who lived there for 12 years. In fact his suite still exists. I visited the room, but if you have enough money, you can book it for yourself.

Location

The Warwick Hotel is situated in Midtown, at the 6^th Ave and 54^th Street; right next the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) and the Hilton Hotel. A few blocks away you have the Rockefeller Center and all the luxury shops of the 5^th Ave.

The Warwick Hotel is fully charming, with quality furniture and a classic style.

It has 460 rooms with several suites!

The rooms are spacious and feature a desk, marble bathroom, flat screen TV, minibar, hair dryer, an ironing board and iron… everything you may need during your visit of New York.
The rooms are perfectly soundproof, and quiet.

It is worth highlighting that most of the rooms have a little terrace with a nice view over NYC, from 54^th street to the 6^th Ave. We had a room next to the 54^th street, and at bedtime, we left the curtains opened to enjoy the view over NY.

The best thing about the Warwick Hotel

The bed is very comfy and wide. You will sleep like a baby!

It is an important point, because after taking long walks in New York, you will need to rest well, and a comfy bed is more than welcome.

You need to visit

The 15^th floor of the Warwick is totally dedicated to Marion Davies. You can see her portraits in the corridor, and maybe you can sleep at the Marion Davies suite.

The Cary Grant suite has its own style, a complete living room, a bedroom with a king size bed, a luxury bathroom with Jacuzzi, and a bedroom for kids, with 2 queen size beds and bathroom. It is located on the 27^th floor, with a great terrace and a magnificent view over New York, the 6^th Ave., the Radio City Music Hall and Central Park.

The restaurant

The restaurant is on the 1^st floor. It’s a bit pricey and the best thing to do is to have breakfast somewhere else.

So, the best is to stay in the hotel to sleep and find another place to eat.

Room rates

Hotel prices are high, but the Warwick is not like any other hotel.

However, comparing the services and quality of the Warwick Hotel, it makes it hard to find something better and cheaper.

The first price for a room goes around $250 per night, a really good deal for all the services offered. I know some of you are looking for more economical housing options, but if you have the budget or if you’re planning your honeymoon, staying at the Warwick could be perfect.
