Ellen’s Stardust Dinner, a 50’s – 60’s styled restaurant in New York

For those who want to make a trip “Back to the Future” during their stay in New York, I recommend that you go to Ellen’s Stardust Diner.

What is unique about Ellen’s Stardust Diner?

This restaurant is two blocks away from Times Square, and it will surprise you because you will be part of a real show done by the waiters: between two dishes, they will sing the most popular songs from musicals like (Mamma Mia, West Side Story, Mary Poppins…) and great American rock and Motown hits.

It is very fun to watch the waiters take your order and then at one point start singing on the small stage of the restaurant. Then come back and serve you as if nothing extraordinary had just happened 😀

How’s the décor at Ellen’s Stardust Diner?

The decor is 100% “USA” from the 50’s and 60’s with leather seats, pictures on the walls with photos of celebrities of that time (John Travolta…), and many decorative details on the tables with the shakers, ketchup bottles …

What can you eat at Ellen’s Stardust Diner?

Even if it seems to be a concert hall, Ellen’s Stardust diner is a restaurant 😉
I have to be honest, you will not have the best lunch or dinner of your stay in NY, but it’s not the worst place you can find either.

I tried the “Be Bop a Lula Burger”, it’s a good cheeseburger, with fried onions, mushrooms, bacon and steak. The burger is served with homemade french fries, some vegetables and sauces. It was quite good.

We also had loaded potato skins.

And tried some deserts!

What do I like about this restaurant?

If you like songs from the ’50s and ’60s, or after this period, do not hesitate to ask the waiter to sing it. Next to us, some girls asked the waiter to sing Usher’s song “Oh My Gosh.” And the waiter did it!
They’re there to serve you food but also to sing the song you want! Enjoy it;)

The restaurant is steps away from Times Square. There’s always a long waiting line outside, but you’ll get a table within 30 minutes.
