What is The Cecil?
The Cecil was created by Richard Parsons (New York businessman) and Alexander Smalls (cook). Inspired by his travel, exploration and study of the African Diaspora, The Cecil offers cuisine “Fusion” with tastes and flavors as diverse and dynamic as the community in which he lives here in Harlem. Its objective is to connect communities through food, comfort and hospitality.
The same two owners relaunched the Minton’s a great jazz club which has served pretty sizes and is located just off.
What is the atmosphere like at The Cecil?
It really is the restaurant bar trend with very dim light, good background music, an a bit of African décor to get the feeling of Harlem and finally a noisy room just like everywhere in NYC.
It is a place where one feels good to go.
What can you eat and drink at The Cecil?
As I said earlier, this is really a fusion cuisine they offer. This is echoed as a bar with very original cocktails, with great dishes, desserts or even brunch.
You could for example make a dish called “Afro / Asian / American Gumbo” with smoked chicken, Chinese chicken sauce, shrimp and crabs, or Udon noodles with sauce West African peanuts served with Japanese soya beans.
In short they are super nice mixtures to taste!!!

Like any trendy restaurant in New York, the dishes are not cheap but not unaffordable. This goes from 15 to 30 dollars.

Conclusion
The atmosphere of this restaurant is really nice and different!
I do not deny that unfortunately I was not able to eat there because all i had was delicious cocktail. But I have eatin at other restaurants in Harlem, the Red Rooster, but I was quite disappointed of it, and decided i would eat here.
In short it is a really nice place and worth it to try.
