The Gansevoort Park Avenue hotel is where you have to stay if you seek comfort, quality and a trendy place. Please note that the owner changed few years ago, the rooms and style of the Gansevoort changed and the new name of this hotel is Royalton Park Avenue. The rooftop and the pool are still there!

What is the history of Gansevoort Park Avenue hotel?

The Gansevoort Park Avenue is the fourth hotel of the Gansevoort Hotel Group. There is another hotel in the Meatpacking District, in Miami and in the Dominican Republic.
The Meatpacking District hotel was the first one, in 2004. The Park Avenue hotel opened later on in 2010.
The concept remains the same: an exclusive hotel with stylish decor, comfortable, and even a pool on the roofto

How are the rooms?

The hotel has 249 rooms. All are decorated by architect Stephen B. Jacobs and designer Andi Pepper (the same decoration team that worked on the Gansevoort Meatpacking Hotel). They have a refined style with touch of colors such as blue and pink for certain items, everything else is white or gray.

The rooms measure 32 m2  to 185 m2 with large windows, a very comfortable Queen or King Size bed, nice bed linens, HDTV, a private bar, a desk, a safe, an umbrella and everything you need to iron your clothes. In some rooms, there are armchairs and couches.

The size of the bathroom depends on the size of the bedroom. However all of them have a bathtub.
As in any hotel, you will find beauty products (shampoo, shower gel, cream …) and other specific items like razors for men.

What are the “extras” of this hotel?

The Gansevort park Avenue Hotel is not like any other hotel. It provides some extra services you won’t easily find in another hotels.
For example, in some rooms there is a washer and dryer.
Something very original, they embroider your initials on the pillowcases. And you can take them back home as a souvenir of your stay!
Anyway, in each room there is a balcony with a view over Park Avenue and / or the 29th street. The balcony is larger on higher rooms’ category.

What services are offered in this hotel?

There is a very good Italian restaurant: Asellina on the first floor of the hotel. I will soon publish a new article about it 😉

In fact, it is where you can eat your breakfast.

On the 17th floor there is a lounge called Cafe Menu. I love the decor, mixing modern and traditional furniture with plants and natural light thanks to the large windows.

The Rooftop is on the same floor, with a bar and above all a pool with a breathtaking view on the Empire State Building. The pool is open during the winter too.
So after a long day walking the streets of New York, a break at this rooftop is a very nice idea to end your day.
For those who are not staying at the hotel, you can go to the rooftop from Monday to Wednesday from 11 am to 1 am, Thursday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 am, and Sunday from 11 am to 11 pm.

Why is it a “suggestive” hotel?

The hotel design is very contemporary with some classical references and inspiration of the aesthetic glamor of the 40s’.
There are many pictures of Deborah Anderson throughout the hotel, in the hallways, in the rooms.
If you’re staying in this hotel with your kids, you can flip the pictures to see more classic photographs.
