Founded in 1976 this market depended on a small number of vendors. Today there are over 140 producers that encourage market goers to shop better. The point of this market it to promote regional agriculture that supports local producers.
What can you find in Union Square Greenmarket?
You will find local fruit and vegetables producers, bakers, honey, maple syrup and flowers; the majority of the products is organic and is fresh.
During Halloween the stands get full of pumpkins!
A lot of fruit and vegetables were produced outside of Manhattan but don’t be surprised if you find honey produced on a rooftop!
Where is the Greenmarket?
It is located in Union Square, one of my favorite squares in Manhattan!
When?: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Hours: 8am to 6pm
Is there another Greenmarket in New York?
Of course, there are a lot of markets in New York, not only in Union Square.
You can go to Tribeca Greenmarket on Saturdays from 8am to 3pm on Greenwich Street by Chamber and Duane.
